Dolls, Baby!

I'm not even sure you're going to see this before you head off but here's hoping you do, cos I was sure I had your mobile number and it appears I don't.

Anyway, I was sick last week with a virusy thing, that kind of got better then came back worse than ever and I ended up with (definitely not swine) flu. This is the first time since Tuesday that I've done anything other than lay around in bed sleeping and watching telly.

So...

Have a safe flight and a great holiday. I'll be thinking of you - not the least bit enviously, though hehehehehe. I'll drop by and see you when you're back and pick up my part of the Dollmore order.

My F-Doll bodies were delivered on Friday - wh00t! Luckily I was home from work, sick, so I was there when they arrived. But because I was sick it took me all afternoon to decide who got what body, get the heads on and the dolls dressed. They're now in winter garb - except poor little Wren, who is wearing pjs. He is, however, the very first of any of my boys to have a pair of socks.

Sadly, I'm still feeling somewhat ill, which is why I missed visiting talithax yesterday and picking up my part of the group order - don't want to pass on whatever the hell this is that I have. I want to take piccies of my boys now they're all assembled but just the thought of dragging them out and then putting them away again makes me weary. Maybe another day. The best I managed was some comparison shots of a DOD head on a pink F-Doll body. Then I couldn't be arsed uploading them. Being sick sucks :(

Also, we had a power-outage yesterday that killed my modem. I'm sharing one with the kids right now, which makes my i'net slllllllloooooooooooooooowww.

Wonder if breaking that mirror Friday night is going to make life worse? :P

Just extraordinarily busy. I handed in my big Criminal Law assignment the week before last and have been catching up slowly with LJs and so on. Also working more with Vegas and looking at tutorials on YouTube.

In dollie news, I've ordered my two bodies from F-doll. Just before the freakin' AU$ starting clawing its way back up to something not quite as appalling as it has been - yeah, I lose. Still I was really tired of having two floating heads. I have this driving need for my dolls to be complete. I tried to find out how the F-doll pink resin matched DOD pink resin but with no luck, so I've taken my chances and am hoping like hell that it's a half-decent match. Otherwise, Elf With No Name will be wearing a lot of high-necked outfits - or scarves!

Sadly, the dolls have been neglected of late. I'm hoping once the other bodies arrive, I'll be more inclined to "play". They will all need a change of outfits with winter coming. Yes, I'm one of those owners who likes to dress her dolls for the season. I know they can't feel the heat or the cold, but it bothers me to see them sitting there in the middle of summer with a fur-collared coat on or, in winter sitting around in short-sleeved shirts.

Hmmm...looks like my footy tipping is off to a bad start this week :(

Off to Open Day at the Courts tomorrow - yes, my life is exciting - hahahahaha!

Yesterday we had a visit from talithax and some of her crew. I got some eggs (thanks!!), Wren got a chicken and Lucah got to wear bunny ears, much to his disgust!

Your dolls are gorgeous and your outfits stunning. However, when I have to spend most of the afternoon trying to get *one* outfit on a doll...well, the relationship is in danger. Also, those teeny tiny little fasteners? No love for them at all. I have fat Westerner fingers, not tiny little Asian fingers. I cannot get the damned coat done up and because I can't get it done up the decorative chains can't be done up, either. So, Lucah is looking sorta spiffy but it bugs me that I can't get the coat fastener done up.

OTOH, Raidan looks a million bucks. He's also dressed in DOD and there were no shirt sleeves to wrestle down under the coat sleeves, and his coat has a sensible fastener. I actually had forgotten how hot Raidan can look. If it wasn't almost dinner time, there would be pics, but it is so there's not. Maybe after dinner, if I can be arsed, I'll get the camera out.

We've just gone through the whole day thinking it was an hour earlier than it is. Stupid Daylight Savings. I thought it ended this weekend but it's next weekend :( Guess I'd better get stuck into my Sunday evening chores *yawn*

Not only of LJ either. More importantly I found out this week that I've missed two deadlines for assignments in my course :( I'll have to knuckle down this weekend and hope the lecturer is forgiving.

In happier news, it's been a busy week for arrivals. I received two tiny outfits earlier in the week (I think!) then another outfit for Jinx (currently sans body so he can't wear it), and then another notice from the post office. Which was either boots or LF Shiwoo. Turned out to be both! My little boy is here and he's cuteness personified.

It seems like forever since I was here but I've been consumed with my fixation for LittleFee Shiwoo. I finally managed to nab one on DOA, because I'm impatient and wanted him sooner rather than later and the GO was dragging on a little. He's not here yet, but his clothes arrived today! Very cute they are.

Am I wrong in thinking it's peculiar that the Shiwoo seller parted with the little one because she said he wasn't what she was expecting, and within days she's scoping out other Shiwoos in the Marketplace. This one was a fullset so maybe she decided that she'd like him better as a fullset *shrugs* I guess so long as I get my boy and he's exactly as described, things will be fine. It's just, I have this niggling feeling that something's not quite right. I guess I'll see when he gets here. Hurry up, little one!

Marley's head arrived back from lemonsky yesterday and tonight when I got home from work, I went to work on him. Sadly for Jinx, his f-doll body was a match, so he is now a floating head :( I need more bodies! Marley also has a melonhead but fortunately, the wig Raidan has been wearing fitted him and was black! Raidan will get the new (smaller) black wig. There are new boots, too, so all my boys have shoes on - until I get the other bodies @.@

Actually I do - really, really, REALLY want a Littlefee Shiwoo. I saw talithx's yesterday and I so want this little boy. It hasn't been 24hrs yet, but I've talked myself out of buying him thus far by reminding myself he won't be fullset. The discussion in my head goes like this:

Sensible me: If I buy him I'll have to get him clothes, wigs, shoes, etc.

Unsensible me: He's a tiny - things won't cost much for him!

SM: The AUD sucks so hard I want to cry

UM: You think it's going to improve much in the foreseeable future?

SM: I may need the money for something else

UM: Like?

SM: I want money in reserve - for emergencies

UM: You can save some more

SM: What about the bodies I need and the Crobidoll head?

UM: You can use Kevvy's monies for those

Wah! Being frugal is hard work! I want this boy and really, I don't see me resisting for too much longer. I have little to no willpower when dollies are concerned.

Apart from the damange to my determination not to buy more dolls until I finish those I have, it was great fun yesterday. Also fantastic to see suzieboots and tonto65 again.

I got my parcel from Aussie Post after all. David said that they knew him there because he collects a lot of parcels (computer bits and pieces), and there wouldn't be a problem. I did all the things I'd been told to do anyway, inlcuding a letter, ID, a copy of the order etc. David said they gave him the parcel and didn't even look at all the paperwork I'd provided. Go, go Aussie Post. Anyway, it was my Dollmore order. I now have...GOGGLES! They are so cool :)) I also received another pair of sunglasses and a hat and muffler from Another Space. No one gets to wear that till wintertime, though. The sunnies were for Rook, but umm, he doesn't have a body at the moment. David also declared my new Tender Elf Sha a devil doll ;_; and said it was the type to kill you in your sleep. Meanie!

Some beautiful easter lillies have bloomed outside. I saw them today and wanted to take the TES boy outside for some shots, but being Sunday and busy with washing, ironing crap, I didn't get to it. I hope there are more lillies around the place. This being our first year here, I'm not sure what treasures are lurking in the yard!

I received a card in my letterbox today from Aussie Post. They'd tried to deliver something and I wasn't home - because I was at work. So, they've sent it to Enfield Plaza for collection. Well and good, except...Enfield Plaza PO isn't open on Saturdays and is only open to 5pm during the week. I work until 5.15pm. Now, normally, not a huge problem. I ring Aust Post and ask them to send it to the City Cross PO and I pick it up during my lunch time, except...if it's an EMS delivery, they won't transfer it. I have to pick it up from Enfield Plaza and *I'm* the only one who's allowed to collect it. It's really ridiculous. Last time, I took time off work to get home early and pick it the event head, but I can't keep doing that. Grrrring at Aussie Post!

14. What is your funniest memory with any of your dolls? :: The notes my brother left all over Raidan's box when he finally was released from customs and came home.

15. What is your saddest memory with any of your dolls? :: I can't remember what had happened but I remember I hugged Rook and cried, until I thought I might get tears on him!

17. Which BJD out of yours would you never sell in a million years? :: Never, ever? Rook. But the real answer is "none of them!"

18. Name one thing that makes you erked in the BJD hobby. :: Everything being in US$ no matter where you buy it, and the scarcity of dolls/dollie stuffs in Sth Aust

19. Would you ever consider "leaving" the hobby? :: I'm very happy right now but who knows what the future holds?

20. Who is the newest character you've thought up? :: errr...yeah, pass

My Tender Elf Sha head has arrived and he is glorious! He's also a thief, and has stolen Rook's body and Marley's eyes! My mind has been a complete blank in regards to names, but tonight I went looking and I like Silas, which means man of the woods, and being an elf, I guess that fits. But Silas always reminds me of that crazy monk in The Da Vinci Code who, in turn, reminds me of Farfarello from WK 0.0 Not sure if that's quite the feeling I was aiming for. This new boy has the face of an angel but I sense something of the devil about him. As soon as I saw him free of all the bubblewrap, I knew he would have red eyes (sorry, Marley!) and the black DOD wig I'd ordered. He looks stunning but you'll have to take my word on that because *all* the batteries are dead and I can't use my camera *sulks* How can they all be dead when we charged them up and haven't used them yet? I don't get technology, sometimes.

Rest assured, once I have a working camera, there will be pics!

Oh, and PS: the outfits from DOD are just gorgeous.

Bravely leaving the air conditioned comfort of the lounge room, I walked into my study last night and saw ( this )

Now I'm paranoid and keep checking my boys to make sure they aren't melting!

Because I de-camped to the lounge room last night hoping to get some sleep, I didn't come online. But tonight when I checked my mail, I had a shipping notice from DOD! Yes, I squeed like a little girl. I should have my new head next week - along with a stack of clothes. Too bad the new boy doesn't have a body so he can wear some of the new clothes. But yes, I'm very excited!

Deciding that the dolls really had enough of everything...okay, except shoes/boots, I'd decided not to spend anything on them for a while. Yeah, that didn't work out at all. Let's see, an order with talithax, an order for a cap and goggles from Another Space and a body will be ordered in Feb aaaaand...I saw this fantastic wig at jpopdolls last night. The shipping and conversion rate are killers, but what's new?

I'm also about to seriously start looking for someone to do my k-doll's faceup. I think he's been hiding in his little head-box long enough and I'd like to have him ready for when his body comes home.

Hmmm, I think I need a second job :(

We had a lovely time at the Botanic Gardens with lots of Adelaide doll owners and their dolls. It was sad, though, cos asliceoflove is going away *sniff*

I only managed a couple of pics because my sucky camera sucked all the life out of my batteries :( I will try to post the one or two good photos I have later.

However, today, Lucah and Raidan shared a couple of the dollie-cakes and pics were taken.
